Cultural Night: Alumni Homecoming 30.6

After carrying out a half day “Leadership Talk” event, MM FEB UGM invited all the alumni to recall their memories in campus and strengthen the alumni bond in “Cultural Night” event.

Taking place in the evening of June 30, 2018 in the backyard garden of MM FEB UGM, the event brought Javanese traditional theme. It was beautifully opened by Gamelis Gamler performance, a group of musician who combined modern genre of music with traditional gamelan instruments. Besides, there were a traditional dance performance from Museum Wayang Kekayon Yogyakarta and a monolog from Butet Kartaredjasa, a famous Indonesian actor and writer.

The well-known keroncong singer, Sundari Soekotjo, sang one of her best hits, Rangkaian Melati. She was an alumnae of Batch Executive B 6 Jakarta who became one of the speakers in “Leadership Talk” event in the morning. She shared her experience in managing her business with her only daughter. “I established Yayasan Keroncong Indonesia (Indonesian Keroncong Foundation) since I want to motivate the youth to know, love, and preserve keroncong music. We are considering keroncong to be combined with other genre such as dangdut, pop, and rock,” said the woman who was originally born in Solo.

The glamorous open air “Cultural Night” was perfectly completed with a special performance from one of Indonesia rock living legends who was an alumnae of Executive B 13 Jakarta, Ikang Fawzi. He said that the event was provided to connect the alumni and enable them to communicate each other. “I think it is a special moment for us to catch up each other, and hopefully the opportunity can motivate the alumni once we return to our home base and business,” he said.

The Director of MM FEB UGM Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Tandelilin Eduardus, M.B.A., remarked that the alumni gathering was held in celebrating the 30th Anniversary of MM FEB UGM which focused on educating Indonesia’s future business leaders. “For 30 years, the alumni has contributed for the betterness of Indonesia from Sabang to Merauke,” he said.

As a symbol of gratitude, the alumni represented by Ikang Fawzi handed over a shadow puppet replica to the Director of MM FEB UGM Yogyakarta, Dr. T. Hani Handoko, M.B.A., and the Director of MM FEB UGM Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Tandelilin Eduardus, M.B.A.
