A total of 9 international students participating in the Student Exchange program from several partner universities such as Rotterdam School of Management, Pforzheim University, Humboldt University of Berlin, TH Köln, Wu Vienna, and Frankfurt School of Finance & Management were present at the welcoming ceremony of new students at the MM FEB campus UGM Yogyakarta on Tuesday afternoon (09/08/2022).

Amin Wibowo, Ph.D. As the Director of the MM FEB UGM Study Program at Yogyakarta Campus welcomed international students of the MM FEB UGM campus. Deputy Director of MM FEB UGM Study Program Rocky Adiguna, Ph.D. briefly explained about the students’ activities on campus and various access to the facilities provided to all students. This event on Tuesday afternoon ended with a lunch and Campus Tour for international students accompanied by students from the MMSA UGM student club.

The incoming student welcoming activity was followed by the Academix Culture event on Thursday (11/08/2022), which was held in the village of Ekotisata Pancoh, Turi, Sleman. The manager of MM FEB UGM gave his speech to the 20 students who took part in the Academix Culture that morning. MM FEB UGM collaborated with the Eureka Consultant Team and the Pancoh Tourism Village Team to assist various traditional cultural introduction activities and business-based games that stimulate students’ teamwork which later would contribute to their study.

The Eureka Consultant team started with several games that hone the students’ teamwork. After that, students are invited to make batik with “malam” or batik candles and pincuk weaving. In addition, students also participated in learning traditional dances which were guided directly by dance instructors and accompanied by the traditional music of Pancoh Tourism Village. The students were very enthusiastic about every activity and this became the first experience for international students to join such traditional activities.

To end the day, river tracking is the last and most interesting activity at this Academix Culture event. The experience of tracking 400 meters down the clean and beautiful river is a fun thing for all students. The event ended with the awarding for the best groups and also a group photo.
