As part of the theoretical courses that are currently being conducted, IMBA 81 students and the Asean Master in Sustainability Program Batch 2 also carry out company visit activities to increase knowledge of business practices in companies directly. The theoretical understanding of Technology and Operations Management (TOM) in class makes students deepen their practical knowledge in the business world. The company’s visit last Wednesday (24/05/2023) to PT Bambu Nusa Verde (BNV) was attended by 48 MBA FEB UGM students, PT Bambu Nusa Verde (BNV) is developing biotechnology, engaged in the propagation of bamboo plants. The company is located on Jalan Mangunan, Plembon, Harjobinangun, Pakem, Sleman, DIY.
Accompanied by Luluk Lusiantoro, Ph.D. as a lecturer in the TOM course, this company visit discussed the production of bamboo plants more deeply. The event started in the morning with the presentation of opening material by Marc Alfons M Peeters, the Director of PT Bambu Nusa Verde. Peeters explained the company profile, interspersed with questions and answers, group photos and a presentation of placards. After that, students were invited to tour the plantation to introduce how the BNV production process uses tissue culture technology developed by the Oprins Plant to reproduce various types of tropical bamboo plants.
The activity lasted for approximately 2.5 hours and ended with an explanation of various bamboo products that have been processed into multiple items, such as bicycles, plates, tumblers, and others. (Public Relations; Ira & Jihan/Photo; Berli).
