TRANSFORMATION SANUR SEZ (SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONE)

On Thursday, May 30, 2024, the MBA FEB UGM Jakarta once again held an Executive Series with the theme “Transformation Sanur SEZ (Special Economic Zone)” featuring Christine Hutabarat as the Chief Executive Officer. The event took place at the 9th floor Auditorium of MBA FEB UGM and was attended by approximately 200 students and alumni.

This executive series discussed the transformation of state-owned enterprise (BUMN) holding in the aviation and tourism sectors, the first of its kind in Indonesia, called InJourney. Christine explained that InJourney consists of six sub-sectors: InJourney Airport, InJourney Aviation service covering services at Indonesian airports, InJourney Destination Management covering tourism destinations in Indonesia, InJourney Tourism Development Corporation, InJourney Hospitality, and InJourney Retail. Through InJourney’s vision, “To be the leading tourism ecosystem in the region, providing memorable experiences through Indonesian hospitality,” it is hoped to build a holistic, inclusive, and collaborative synergy, aiming to have similar programs in the future to drive traffic to Indonesian government-designated tourist destinations such as Mandalika, Borobudur, Labuan Bajo, Kupang, and Lake Toba.

In addition to the transformation within the BUMN holding, Christine also outlined the agenda for the Development of Sanur as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) as stipulated in Government Regulation No. 41 of 2022. Sanur was chosen as an SEZ area due to its strategic location and being a World Class Signature for tourists. In the future, the Sanur Health & Wellness SEZ will be developed in this area, which will become an integrated ecosystem for health, tourism, and other commercial activities. With the establishment of this SEZ area, it is hoped to provide integrated facilities and services for health and tourism.
