MBA FEB UGM Holds Table Manner Event for MBA/IMBA Batch 84 at 101 STYLE Yogyakarta

A total of 90 students from the MBA/IMBA program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), Batch 84, participated in the Table Manner event as part of the Leadership Enhancement and Acceleration Program (LEAP) at 101 STYLE Yogyakarta Malioboro on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. This event was designed to equip participants with leadership, etiquette, and professionalism skills essential for navigating the increasingly competitive global business environment.

The event began with an opening speech from Hotel Manager Mrs. Atik, who emphasized the importance of table manners as a vital skill for professional interactions. “Proper dining etiquette is not just a skill but also a crucial practice for entering the workforce and building international relationships. It is a foundation for appreciating those around us through good manners toward professional colleagues,” she remarked.

The program continued with a cooking class, guided by the hotel’s professional team. During this session, students had the opportunity to observe a live demonstration of preparing a main course, led by the hotel’s chef. Participants learned about ingredient preparation, the appropriate use of kitchen tools, and effective cooking techniques.

Next, the main session provided an in-depth explanation of dining etiquette, conducted by Food and Beverage Manager Mr. Oky. Participants were taught the proper layout of tableware, the correct use of spoons, forks, and knives, and the appropriate handling of napkins in formal settings. This session also included guidance on conversational etiquette during meals, highlighting the importance of maintaining polite and professional discussion topics.

This Table Manner program not only offered practical insights into the significance of formal dining etiquette but also enhanced students’ confidence in handling various international business situations. The event concluded with enthusiasm and appreciation from all students for the valuable lessons they gained.
