As part of its commitment to preparing graduates for the challenges of the professional world, the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Gadjah Mada University (MBA FEB UGM), continues to focus on producing high-quality, competent graduates ready to make positive contributions across various industry sectors. One testament to this success is the remarkable achievement of Ilham Budi Kurniawan, a student who graduated with a perfect cumulative GPA of 4.00.
The January 2025 graduation period saw a total of 124 students, comprising 68 from the Yogyakarta campus and 56 from the Jakarta campus, successfully earning their MBA degrees. Among them, 54 students graduated with Cum Laude honors, including Ilham from the JOG-MBA-82 class, who achieved the extraordinary feat of a perfect 4.00 GPA. This accomplishment earned him the title of Best Graduate at the Farewell Night for Prospective Graduates (MPCW) held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at the Plaza Belakang MBA FEB UGM, Yogyakarta campus.
Ilham, who holds an educational background in Accounting, began his career at the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia in 2012 as a Human Resources Bureau staff member. Reflecting on his journey, he shared, “My work experience at the Ministry of Finance and my academic journey at MBA FEB UGM have been reciprocal and mutually enriching. At the Ministry, I was able to validate practical policies with the theories and literature taught at MBA FEB UGM. Similarly, I brought practical examples from the Ministry to enrich my academic learning.”
Describing his MBA journey in one word, Ilham chose “mindful.” He emphasized his commitment to being present and enjoying every step of the learning process, despite the significant challenge of balancing work, social life, and a demanding study schedule. “I created to-do lists and set priorities to maintain a study-life balance. This strategy allowed me to ensure my academic tasks were completed without sacrificing time for rest, social life, or activities I enjoy,” he added.
Looking ahead, Ilham plans to return to the Ministry of Finance and apply the knowledge he has gained. “I aim to become a Human Resources Analyst and contribute to solving challenges in this field, both within the Ministry and beyond,” he said. He also aspires to pursue further education to expand his ability to contribute to organizations and society.
Acknowledging the support system behind his success, Ilham expressed gratitude to his family, teachers, professors, and friends. “They have been my support system, helping me navigate challenges and setbacks. I am deeply thankful to all of them,” he said.
Congratulations to Ilham Budi Kurniawan on his outstanding achievement. May his success inspire other students to pursue their dreams and make meaningful contributions to society.
