Enhancing Creativity and Leadership Among New Students Through Business Fun Games

The Master of Business Administration Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (MBA FEB UGM) Yogyakarta Campus successfully organized the Business Fun Games (BFG) event. The participants of BFG were new students from the MBA-IMBA Batch 86 and SEMBA Batch 45 programs. This activity was held on Saturday, February 1st, 2025, at the Leadership Hall, MBA FEB UGM Yogyakarta Campus.

The primary goal of this event was to encourage creativity and develop students’ leadership skills through interactive games. BFG is an integral part of the Leadership Enhancement and Acceleration Program (LEAP), a mandatory non-credit course that students must take from the Pre-MBA stage through several subsequent semesters. This program is designed to help students understand their personal characteristics so they can be optimally developed for future leadership roles.

The event began with an opening speech from Prof. Amin Wibowo, Ph.D., Director of the MBA Program at FEB UGM Yogyakarta Campus. “We organize BFG to help students build psychological readiness and develop cognitive and psychomotor skills so that they can uphold the core pillars of MBA FEB UGM: integrity, professionalism, objectivity, academic freedom, and social concern,” he stated.

The BFG activities were facilitated by a team of faculty members, including Rr Tur Nastiti, M.Si., Ph.D., Sumaryono, M.Sc., Ph.D., Drs. Haryanto, M.Si., Psychologist, and Indrianingsih, S.Psi. Various leadership games were conducted, with students randomly assigned to groups. In addition to enhancing teamwork and leadership skills, this session also served as an effective platform for participants to meet new peers and adapt to the MBA FEB UGM environment.

Tur Nastiti, as she is commonly known, explained that the purpose of BFG is to introduce students to the core values upheld by MBA FEB UGM while familiarizing them with business concepts through interactive activities. “We hope that new students remain enthusiastic about learning, internalizing the values at FEB UGM, and applying business management knowledge in the enterprises they will manage,” she added.

Through the BFG activities, MBA FEB UGM new students are expected to be better prepared to face both academic and professional challenges. This initiative is not just a game—it is an educational platform that integrates leadership theory and practice in an engaging and enjoyable setting.
