The Master of Business Administration Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (MBA FEB UGM) successfully organized the AcadeMix Culture event on February 8th, 2025, at Wukirsari Tourism Village. A total of 10 students participated, including International MBA (IMBA) Batch 85 students and incoming students from various foreign universities.
This regularly held event for new students is highly anticipated as it provides them with an opportunity to learn firsthand about Indonesia’s culture and local wisdom. The Director of the MBA FEB UGM Yogyakarta Campus, Prof. Amin Wibowo, S.E., M.B.A., Ph.D., officially opened the event, stating, “This event aims to introduce Indonesian culture to all of you. Enjoy the experience, and I hope everything goes well until you return to campus.”
Indonesia’s rich and diverse cultural heritage continues to attract global attention. Its traditions and arts serve as an inspiration worldwide, making it essential to preserve and promote them. The AcadeMix Culture program was designed to introduce MBA FEB UGM students to Indonesia’s cultural heritage and is conducted every semester as a regular academic activity.
During this session, students were introduced to batik-making, traditional dance, gamelan music, and wayang kulit (shadow puppetry). In addition to learning about these traditions, students also had the opportunity to actively participate in hands-on activities, including batik-making, performing traditional dances, playing gamelan instruments, and crafting wayang kulit puppets. The choice of Wukirsari Tourism Village, recognized as one of the World’s Best Tourism Villages in 2024, added a special charm to this AcadeMix Culture experience.
Beyond cultural learning, AcadeMix Culture also serves as a platform for students to strengthen their teamwork and leadership skills in facing global challenges. Mohammad Genta Mahardhika, representing Eureka, the event organizer assisting in this program, shared his insights: “The purpose of AcadeMix Culture is to shape future leaders who can collaborate effectively. This is the time for students to get to know each other. Once strong bonds are established, collaboration in the future will become even more natural and impactful.”
With AcadeMix Culture, MBA FEB UGM continues to provide international students with meaningful cultural experiences while enhancing their leadership and collaboration skills for the future.
