In the spirit of compassion and togetherness during the holy month of Ramadan, students of the Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (MBA FEB UGM) organized the MBA Care and Iftar event at the Leadership Hall MBA FEB UGM on Friday, February 14, 2024. This event served as a meaningful opportunity for students to share joy and kindness with 20 orphaned and underprivileged children from the Mizan Amanah Yogyakarta Orphanage and Dhuafa Foundation.
The MBA Care program began with the distribution of donations and essential goods, which were personally handed over by Prof. Amin Wibowo, M.B.A., Ph.D. (Director of MBA FEB UGM Yogyakarta Campus), Dr. Rocky Adiguna, Ph.D. (Deputy Director of MBA FEB UGM), Muhammad Hanif Ramadhan (Chief Executive Officer of the MBA Student Association), as well as the Chairpersons of Forkis and KMK. The atmosphere was filled with warmth and sincerity as students engaged with the children, sharing stories and laughter.
In his speech, Hanif emphasized the importance of fastabiqul khairat, the Islamic principle of competing in good deeds, within the MBA FEB UGM community. “Through this event, we are not just sharing material things but also happiness and warmth. Hopefully, this spirit of giving will continue to thrive among us,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Prof. Amin expressed his appreciation for the students who contributed to this social initiative. “MBA FEB UGM is committed to producing not only outstanding business leaders but also individuals who care about society. The active participation of students in events like this is a valuable contribution to the community,” he remarked.
A representative from the Mizan Amanah Yogyakarta Orphanage and Dhuafa Foundation, Ibu Sunarsih, also conveyed her gratitude for the kindness extended to the children. “Thank you to all the kind-hearted individuals who have invited us and shared joy in this space. We feel truly welcomed and appreciated,” she said emotionally.
Following the donation session, the event continued with an Islamic lecture, providing a moment of reflection before concluding with iftar (breaking the fast) together. This communal meal fostered deeper connections among students, faculty, and the MBA FEB UGM academic community, strengthening the values of solidarity and social responsibility.
The MBA Care and Iftar event is expected to inspire MBA FEB UGM students to continue nurturing leadership qualities that go beyond academics, embracing a strong sense of social empathy and contribution to the community.
