Beyond Profit: Sustainability Club Outlook 3.0 Highlights the Importance of ESG in Business Strategy

Sustainability Club, Entrepreneur Club, and MM Folk from MBA FEB UGM successfully held the event Sustainability Club Outlook 3.0 with the theme “Beyond Profit: Integrating ESG into Sustainable Business Strategy.” The event featured three distinguished speakers: Lucia Karina, VP of Public Affairs, Communications, and Sustainability Indonesia at Coca-Cola Euro Pacific Partners; Farah Nabila Luthfiyya, S.TP., M.B.A., M.Sc., ESG & Corporate Communication Representative at ASEAN Master; and Prof. Nurul Indarti, Ph.D., Head of the Management Department at FEB UGM. The discussion was moderated by Anggraeni Pranandari, S.E., M.Sc.

Held at the Faculty Meeting Room of MBA FEB UGM, the event was officially opened by Dr. Rocky Adiguna, Board of Directors at MBA FEB UGM. In his remarks, he emphasized that the entire series of activities—from Sustainability Club Outlook 3.0 to the Green Business Plan—forms part of the institution’s effort to raise awareness about the importance of sustainability in the business world. He asserted that sustainability is not just a discourse but must be implemented through real action.

As a token of appreciation, souvenirs were presented to the speakers by Muhammad Arkan Rayhan, Chair of the Sustainability Club. Arkan highlighted that the theme “Beyond Profit” underscores the importance of a business orientation that goes beyond profit-making to include sustainability and social responsibility as strategic foundations for building inclusive businesses.

The speakers shared various perspectives on integrating ESG into business strategy. Farah stated, “Companies must go beyond merely complying with ESG regulations—they must internalize sustainability values to remain competitive in the global market.” Prof. Nurul added, “In today’s era, sustainability is no longer optional—it is essential. ESG is a fundamental pillar for creating adaptive and responsible businesses.” Meanwhile, Lucia Karina stressed, “A sustainable business is one that grows while prioritizing social welfare and environmental preservation—not just profit.”

In closing, the moderator emphasized that ESG integration is a strategic step toward building a more sustainable future for business. The event concluded with a group photo session to commemorate the spirit of collaboration and commitment to responsible business practices.
