The Master of Business Administration Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (MBA FEB UGM) held a Table Manners activity for MBA and IMBA students batch 85 as part of the Leadership Enhancement and Acceleration Program (LEAP) at the Platinum Hotel in Yogyakarta. The activity was held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, to provide insight into the professional world, including dining etiquette.
Susilo Hadi, the Food & Beverage Manager of Platinum Hotel, directly explained and guided the students on table manners. During the event, students were taught proper seating etiquette, proper dining etiquette, etiquette for attending a dinner party, proper use of napkins in a polite and rule-compliant manner, as well as the proper use of plates, glasses, spoons, and forks from appetizers to desserts.
Understanding table manners is expected to demonstrate good behavior during a meal. Susilo stated, “Table manners are very important for the future,” said Susilo. Mastering table manners can enhance social skills, discipline, ethical and etiquette skills, confidence in professional settings, create a positive impression, and improve soft skills, which are crucial in both daily life and business contexts.
The students’ enthusiasm was evident when Susilo posed questions with attractive voucher prizes for the students. The event concluded with a group photo session with the MBA and IMBA students batch 85. Thank you to Hotel Platinum for sharing knowledge about table manners with the MBA and IMBA students batch 85. May this activity serve as a foundation for the students as they enter the professional world.
