The Master of Business Administration Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (MBA FEB UGM), Yogyakarta Campus, celebrated its 37th Anniversary (Dies Natalis) with a series of inspiring and meaningful activities held from June 25 to July 2, 2025.
The 37th anniversary celebration kicked off with a social service activity at the Pondok Pesantren Ash Sholihah in Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. The event was attended by Prof. Amin Wibowo, Ph.D., Director of MBA FEB UGM Yogyakarta, Bowo Setiyono, Ph.D., Deputy Director of MBA FEB UGM Jakarta, staff members, and student representatives from FORKIS (Islamic Family Forum) of MBA FEB UGM Yogyakarta Campus. Prof. Amin expressed his hope that MBA FEB UGM’s small contribution would be meaningful for the pesantren, which serves over 900 students. “We hope that even our small gesture can support the activities of this institution,” he said. He also requested prayers for the health of the academic community, the successful management of the MBA program, and the well-being of everyone the program serves.
On June 30, the celebrations continued with the symbolic delivery of tumpeng (traditional Indonesian rice dish) to both former and current academic administrators. Fruit baskets were also presented to past and present faculty members and administrative staff. This gesture aimed to strengthen the spirit of togetherness and appreciation within the campus community and to honor the contributions and dedication of all individuals who have supported the institution’s growth.
On the official anniversary date, July 2, the celebration continued with another social outreach program and a khataman Al-Qur’an (complete recitation of the Qur’an) conducted by the caretakers and students of the Pesantren Tahfizh Qur’an Yatim Nurani Insani Yogyakarta. The event was held in the Faculty Meeting Room (FMR) of MBA FEB UGM and attended by Dr. Rocky Adiguna, Deputy Director of MBA FEB UGM Yogyakarta. In his remarks, Dr. Rocky reflected on the spiritual significance of the anniversary: “At its core, the anniversary serves as a reminder that indeed, all living beings will die, and our work is not only for this world but also for the hereafter,” he said.
Following the social service and Quran recitation activities, the highlight of the anniversary celebration was held at the Faculty Meeting Room (FMR) of the MBA FEB UGM building in the form of a thanksgiving ceremony. The event was conducted in a hybrid format, with in-person gatherings at both the Yogyakarta and Jakarta campuses. It was attended by university senate members, faculty leaders, department heads from FEB UGM, program heads, alumni, students, staff, and the broader academic community of MBA FEB UGM. The gathering served as a moment to reconnect and celebrate shared achievements.
Prof. Amin shared the continuous efforts made by MBA FEB UGM to improve its academic quality and advance the MBA program: “We’ve documented the journey of MBA FEB UGM in a book titled ‘Mencetak Pemimpin Bisnis’ (Cultivating Business Leaders), published last year. It narrates the founding and development of our MBA program and how, as the next generation, we are committed to continuing the legacy of excellence. Achieving international accreditation is both a milestone and a challenge for us to continuously enhance our quality and move the program forward,” he stated.
Now entering its 37th year, MBA FEB UGM moves forward with renewed optimism. Through a wide range of meaningful and collaborative events, the 37th Anniversary celebration underscored the institution’s commitment to innovation, solidarity, and sustainability, core values that remain at the heart of its identity. The warm and familial atmosphere highlighted the enduring importance of unity. This celebration served not only as a reflective moment of the past 37 years but also as a renewed commitment to building a brighter future.
