Executive Series: PT KAI Shares Insights on Sustainable Human Resources

The Master of Business Administration program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (MBA FEB UGM), successfully held its Executive Series on Friday. The event, titled “Building Sustainable Human Resources: Transformation, Innovation, and Leadership at PT KAI,” featured Rosma Handayani, Managing Director of Human Capital & General Affairs at PT KAI, as the keynote speaker.

The series, part of the LEAP initiative, was opened with a warm welcome by Prof. Amin Wibowo, S.E., M.B.A., Ph.D., who expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn from Rosma’s experiences. “We are grateful for the opportunity to learn together,” Prof. Wibowo said. “Thank you, Ms. Rosma Handayani, an alumna of MM FEB UGM, for sharing your insights on how PT KAI has transformed under the leadership of Mr. Jonan.”

Rosma highlighted the challenges faced by the company, including the digitalization of transportation, industry competition, and evolving customer expectations. To address these challenges, PT KAI has leveraged data to understand the needs of its primarily millennial and Gen Z customer base. The company is focusing on developing digital skills, promoting green mobility, and fostering cross-sector collaborations to build a sustainable and safe railway industry.

Rosma further emphasized the importance of investing in technology and upskilling the workforce to ensure KAI’s future success. The company is actively pursuing digital business processes and automation to reduce operational costs, improve efficiency, and enhance customer service.

Concluding her presentation, Rosma underscored PT KAI’s commitment to effective, data-driven leadership and good corporate governance.

The Executive Series aimed to inspire participants to become leaders who can drive rapid change, create positive impact, and lead sustainable transformations within their organizations.
