The Master of Business Administration Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (MBA FEB UGM) successfully held the AcadeMix Culture event at Wukirsari Tourism Village on February 8, 2025. This event was a mandatory activity for new students of the International Master of Business Administration (IMBA) Batch 85.
Indonesia’s rich and diverse culture continues to attract global attention. As a nation with a wealth of cultural heritage that serves as an inspiration worldwide, it is essential to preserve and promote it. It is our duty to learn, appreciate, and introduce local wisdom to the global stage. The AcadeMix Culture program was designed to introduce Indonesia’s cultural heritage to IMBA students and is held every semester.
This annual event for new students has become one of the most anticipated activities. Through this program, students can experience and learn firsthand about Indonesia’s traditions and local wisdom. The Director of the MBA FEB UGM Yogyakarta Campus, Prof. Amin Wibowo, S.E., M.B.A., Ph.D., officially opened the event, stating, “This event aims to introduce Indonesian culture to all of you. Enjoy the activities, and I hope everything goes well until you return to campus,” he said.
This year’s AcadeMix Culture introduced students to batik, traditional dance, gamelan music, and wayang kulit (shadow puppetry). Students not only observed but also participated in hands-on activities such as batik-making, traditional dancing, playing gamelan, and crafting wayang kulit. Wukirsari Tourism Village, recognized as one of the Best Tourism Villages in the World in 2024, was the ideal location for this immersive cultural experience. The village provided a perfect blend of traditional learning and cultural appreciation for the AcadeMix Culture program.
Beyond cultural exposure, AcadeMix Culture also serves as a platform for students to develop teamwork and global leadership skills. Mohammad Genta Mahardhika, a representative from the Eureka Consultant Team, shared his perspective on the importance of the program. “The goal of AcadeMix Culture is to foster future leaders who can collaborate effectively. Right now, this is an opportunity for them to get to know each other. Inside the classroom, the interaction is different from outside. Through activities like games, group visits, and shared experiences, we aim to strengthen their bond. If this bonding is established, the desire to collaborate in the future will grow stronger,” he explained.
