Academixculture was regularly held for International Batch and international incoming students, both Exchange and Dual Degree participants, in MM FEB UGM to enable them to learn deeper about Indonesian culture especially Javanese one.
In Fall/Winter term 2018/2019, the Academixculture taken place on August 11, 2018 was attended by 32 students; 17 students of Batch International 71 and 15 international incoming students. The latter came from ISCTE University Institute of Lisbon, ESC Clermont France Business School, Vienna University of Economics and Business, University of Leipzig, Pforzheim University, Jönköping International Business School, Technische Hochschule Köln, and Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences.
They visited Pentingsari tourism village located in Cangkringan, Sleman District, Yogyakarta. On arriving, they enjoyed a traditional welcome dance. They continued their activities with making batik, playing gamelan music, learning traditional dance, doing janur (young coconut leaves) decoration, and creating grass puppets. Furthermore, they were challenged to compete their team cohesiveness with some team building games. They seemed to enjoy the mud volleyball match so much as they did not worry to get dirty in the ricefield.
Bayu Sutikno, Cand.Merc., Ph.D., one of the Board of Directors of MM FEB UGM, officially concluded the event by announcing the winner and having group photos with the students.
