Leadership issue has been one of the main concerns for Master in Management Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (MM FEB UGM) to keep on conducting student activities on leadership development base. It was Leadership Camp, one of obligatory non-credit activities in Leadership Enhancement and Acceleration Program (LEAP). Students of Batch 73 Yogyakarta had it at Dolan Ndeso Tourism Village, Boro, Kulonprogo, Yogyakarta.
The Leadership Camp was held for 2 days, on April 12-13, 2019. The purpose of the activity was to contribute deeper understanding on leadership for the students through games testing their group dynamics and how each student manage their capabilities to complete challenges.
On departing, Bayu Sutikno, Ph.D., on behalf of the Board of Directors of MM FEB UGM, gave a short motivational speech for the students and stressed the importance of showing their politeness, disciplines, and good manner during the Leadership Camp. He motivated the students by giving some uplifting yells and jargon.
On arriving at Dolan Ndeso, Eureka Consultant team engaged the students in leadership games. The students who had been divided into 10 groups and supervised by a member of Master in Management Student Association (MMSA) competed in games which established leadership skills, maintained good team work, solved problematic issues in group and individually. On the night, each group was assigned to perform their creativity in MM UGM Hits. Various interesting and exciting ideas were performed. The lively memorable night ended at 11.30 PM.
The students had another session of leadership games after breakfast on the following day. To complete the activity purpose, the students got a short lecture on Leadership Development which was delivered by T. Hani Handoko, M.B.A., Ph.D., the Director of MM FEB UGM Yogyakarta. Hani Handoko asked the students to train their leadership by getting out of comfort zone, taking dynamics, complicated and risky jobs, predicting uncertainty, enriching self-competence, and motivating themselves to create good influence. Leadership Games and MM UGM Hits Winners announcement and awarding, a group photo session, and a communal lunch marked the end of Leadership Camp Batch 73.
