There is a new nuance to the face of MM’s Student Association (MMSA) this year. Even though it has been a period of pandemic with lectures fully online, the creativity of the students with their student club has been brighter nevertheless with the publication of the “Majalah Leaders” (English: Leaders Magazine) Volume 1 in the Master of Management Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Gadjah Mada University (MM FEB UGM) Yogyakarta Campus. Mazi Nurasmi, the chairperson of MMSA 0.9, explained that there were several differences between “Majalah Leaders” and the previous magazine, especially in terms of its content. As well as being aimed at MM FEB UGM students, the magazine is also aimed more broadly at Indonesia so that it has a wider range of readers. “Our hope is that in the future it will continue to develop and become a source of pride for MM FEB UGM,” said Mazi.
Dian Martha, the magazine’s team leader, introduced the organizational structure and its divisions. She also explained that the magazine could be read online as well as in print. Furthermore, Dian explained about the content of “Majalah Leaders” Volume 1—with the title “People Management in Aviation”—is currently looking at the emergence of Covid-19 and its main topic is discussing MSMEs, especially in Yogyakarta. In addition, students can also learn from the magazine about how to find sponsorships in the hope that they can later seek funding independently. As a way of developing creativity, the magazine also provides a forum for students who are fond of photography where they can contribute their work to the portrait section. No less interesting in the magazine, there is an opinion section where the perspectives of MM FEB UGM students are delivered in English. In addition, the magazine has many other very interesting sections.
Hani Handoko, Ph.D., Head of MM FEB UGM Yogyakarta Campus Study Program, gave a gratifying welcome speech in which he said that the launching of the “Majalah Leaders” magazine illustrates that MM FEB UGM students are growing increasingly creative. Hani added that his submission to the magazine was to raise the topic: People Leaders Collaboration. In his article, he depicts leaders or alumni who have become leaders. “This becomes knowledge sharing and a means of reflection for students,” he said. Hani also said that the format of the magazine is very sophisticated. In addition, he described two challenges that must be faced later, namely how to retain readers and manage the magazine so that it can be continued by the next generation. He also said he hopes that the magazine can continue to grow and survive beyond one period of leadership. “Congratulations to the Chairman of the MMSA and the team on the launch of the Majalah Leaders magazine. I hereby declare the magazine officially published,” he concluded. (Public Relations; Eka Siwi / Photo: Irvan).
