CFP MM UGM: “In-depth Analysis of Omnibus Law in Tax and Investment Planning” 

The Master of Management Study Program from Faculty of Economics and Business, Gajah Mada University (MM FEB UGM) has held a certification program in the financial sector, namely CFP (Certified Financial Planner). One of interesting topics from this this CFP talk is “In-depth Analysis of Omnibus Law in Tax and Investment Planning.” As said by Arief Budiman (MM FEB UGM CFP Programs’s Coordinator) last Wednesday (20/01/2021), this program has the advantages which the instructor is a mix of academic experts and practitioners. Moreover, at the end of the session the participants get an Individual Assignment to trains the participant’s abilities. Furthermore, Himawan Adhi Hartanto as the moderator continued the event by reading the profile of resource persons, Yuki Diwinoto S.E., M. Acc., CPA., CFP., CAPM, and give the time to Tri Joko Santoso, CFP (Chair of FPSB Indonesia) to deliver a speech.
Tri Joko Susanto expressed his gratitude for the harmonious cooperation with MM UGM which has helped a lot in organizing the Indonesian FPSB training. “Allow me to tell you about the background of this FPSB. At this curent moment, FPSB exists in 26 countries and Turkey will join us shortly after going through a trial period of 4 years. To become the organizer of 1 country 1 representative, from our point of view, practitioners are something to be eagerly awaited, because this is something we hope for a revolution, where Indonesian taxation is almost the same as Singapore,” he said.
Prof. Dr. Eduardus Tandelilin, M.B.A. as the Director of MM FEB UGM Jakarta Campus said that the CFP Program has been running for a long time and is certainly very beneficial, especially for the financial industry in Indonesia. More and more Indonesians can make a good financial planning, it will increase their standard of living and wealth. “Indonesians are getting richer, meaning the country is getting more prosperous, if the country is getting more prosperous, there should be more taxpayers,” he said. “If we love our country, of course, we have to be a loyal tax payer, because every development of a country must have a source of financing and one of the sources of financing is public taxes,” he continued.
In his presentation, Yuki Diwinoto said, “Why should there be an Omnibus Law?” of course,  to prevent us from entering the middle-income trap, answering the biggest challenges to maintaining and providing employment, simplifying regulations, increasing the effectiveness of the bureaucracy, providing protection and convenience for MSMEs. Cooperatives, creating new jobs, and increasing protection for workers or laborers,” he said. Yuki discussed six points in the CFP Talk MM UGM, namely increasing investment funding, rearranging sanctions in The General Tax Provisions and Procedures Law (UU KUP), determining domestic and foreign tax subjects, determining tax objects, imposing regional taxes and local levies, as well as creating a business climate inside the country.
