EXECUTIVE SERIES: “Krakatau Steel Strategy towards Uncertainty in Crisis”

The Executive Series activity with Krakatau Steel was held with “Krakatau Steel Strategy towards Uncertainty in Crisis”. Melati Sarnita as Commercial Director of PT. Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk as a speaker and alumni of MM FEB UGM, shared his experiences with MM FEB UGM students online this time (22/04/2022).

Gumilang Aryo Sahadewo, Ph.D., Deputy Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Alumni of FEB UGM, was present to start the welcoming ceremony. “As a candidate for inspiring businesswomen and businessmen, this is an excellent time to learn directly from Mrs. Melati, who makes strategic decisions from day to day so Krakatau Steel can compete globally and also face crises and uncertainties.” Gumilang hopes that FEB UGM will have the opportunity to collaborate with PT. Krakatau Steel in the future.

As a tribute to the speaker, the Director of MM FEB UGM Study Program, Jakarta Campus, Prof. Eduardus Tandelilin, Ph.D., handed over an e-certificate to Melati Sarnita for her dedication as alumni to this campus. “We would like to give a certificate for the highest appreciation to Mrs. Melati. Hopefully, by sharing this experience, in the future, we can establish cooperation between Krakatau Steel and FEB UGM as a whole,” he added.

As the moderator, Rocky Adiguna, Ph.D., Deputy Director of the MM FEB UGM Yogyakarta Campus, opened the main event by inviting speakers to share experiences. This sharing began with discussing the PTKS Group Business Portfolio and Steel Products, Cilegon 10 million ton Cluster Roadmap, PTKS Strategy (Transformation, LTSA, Digitization, and Downstreaming) and PTKS Performance Achievement. “Over the years, PTKS has built an integrated supporting business infrastructure network in Cilegon and Indonesia and created a complete business portfolio. PTKS also aims to achieve a production capacity of 10 million tons of Cilegon steel to support the national steel industry as a driving force for other industries,” explained Melati.

PTKS has also succeeded in taking critical steps for total transformation. Efforts have been made to restructure and initiate the change of KS, the establishment of KS Holding. co, and expand and strengthen its position in the market. “KS continues to pursue efficiency initiatives in all lines and shows performance improvements, including subsidiaries. Creating Value by forming a sub-holding makes KS’s subsidiary a new profit generator,” he concluded while ending the event with a fascinating question and answer session with students.
