Orientation for New MBA Students: IMBA 86 and SEMBA 45 at Yogyakarta Campus: Preparing for the Journey Toward Global Leadership

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada  Yogyakarta Campus, hosted an orientation session for new students of the MBA and IMBA programs (Batch 86) as well as the Senior Executive MBA (SEMBA) program (Batch 45). The event took place in person at the Sukadji Ranuwihardjo Auditorium on Friday, January 31st, 2025, with a total of 137 new students in attendance.

The primary objective of this orientation was to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the learning process at MBA FEB UGM, as well as to share essential academic and non-academic information relevant to their journey as MBA students.

In his welcoming speech, Prof. Amin Wibowo, Ph.D., Director of the MBA Program at FEB UGM Yogyakarta Campus, expressed his joy in welcoming the new students who have chosen to join MBA FEB UGM. “Welcome to MBA FEB UGM. Here, we encourage students not only to focus on academics but also to actively participate in organizations and clubs as a platform for self-development,” he stated.

Prof. Amin also urged the new students to take part in various activities, particularly the Leadership Enhancement and Acceleration Program (LEAP), which is designed to develop students’ leadership skills. “We prepare our students to become successful business leaders (being) by equipping them with theoretical knowledge (knowing) and guiding them to apply their learning and contribute meaningfully to the business community (doing),” he added.

During the orientation session, new students were introduced to the faculty members and professionals from MBA FEB UGM Yogyakarta Campus, as well as members of the MBA Student Association (MBA SA) 18.0. Muhammad Hanif Ramadhan, CEO of MBA SA 18.0, delivered a speech emphasizing the role of MBA SA in supporting students throughout their academic journey at MBA FEB UGM. “MBA SA 18.0 is committed to assisting students both in their coursework and extracurricular activities,” he stated.

He also introduced the organizational structure and members of MBA SA 18.0. “We aim to ensure that students grow, not only academically but also have platforms for innovation and personal development,” he added, while introducing various academic and non-academic clubs at MBA FEB UGM.

This orientation program is expected to equip new students with a strong foundation as they embark on their business education journey. The interactive Q&A session further demonstrated the high enthusiasm of the new students, providing them with the opportunity to gain deeper insights from the MBA FEB UGM management team.
