The Sustainability Club, one of the student clubs under the Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (MBA FEB UGM), successfully organized an event titled “Green Workshop: Zero Waste with Vert Terre” on Friday, February 28, 2025. The event took place at the MBA FEB UGM Canteen, featuring expert speakers Tiffani Rizki P. (Founder of Vert Terre) and Ar. Ratri Sekar (Co-Founder of Vert Terre).
The workshop was officially opened by Muhammad Arkan Rayhan, Chair of the Sustainability Club, who welcomed participants by stating, “First of all, thank you to all the participants for joining this sustainability workshop. As we know, sustainability issues remain challenging in our country, and I hope this event can inspire creative solutions for those who wish to apply sustainability concepts in their daily lives.”
During the “Green Workshop: Zero Waste with Vert Terre”, students were not only introduced to the fundamentals of sustainable business, but they also got hands-on experience in plastic upcycling—learning how to create crafts from plastic waste as a practical form of sustainable business. “Most of the Sustainability Club’s programs have been theoretical, so we wanted to provide participants with real-life action inspiration that they can implement in their everyday lives,” said Arkan.
Vert Terre, as a sustainable business, integrates long-term environmental, social, and economic considerations. The company aims to create positive impacts, such as preserving nature and minimizing environmental damage.
Tiffani shared the vision behind the creation of Vert Terre, stating, “We founded Vert Terre because, first, access to eco-friendly products and a low-waste lifestyle is still limited, and many people are unaware of it. So, we wanted to sell these products while also educating the public. Additionally, bulk stores are still rare in Yogyakarta, and many young people are eager to learn about sustainable living but lack a proper platform,” she explained.
The event concluded with student presentations showcasing their upcycling creations, highlighting the importance of sustainability in creative industries. Additionally, discussions emphasized the role of female leadership as a game changer in businesses that drive positive social and environmental impacts.
