Master of Business Administration, Faculty of Economics and Business, Gadjah Mada University (MBA FEB UGM) is again holding a highly anticipated inspiring event, the Executive Series. Located at the MBA FEB UGM Auditorium (8/9/23) Yogyakarta Campus, Ahmad Solichin Lutfiyanto, Compliance Director of PT. Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) is also an MBA FEB UGM Batch 19 alumni, with an in-depth discussion of “Advancing Sustainable Finance in Indonesia: Lessons Learned from BRI.” The event was moderated by I Wayan Nuka Lantara, M.Sc., Ph.D., and attended by Prof. Stein Kristiansen, Ph.D., Department of Economics and Finance, University of Adger, Norway, Prof. Amin Wibowo, Ph.D., Board of Directors MBA FEB UGM Yogyakarta Campus, and Prof. Eduardus Tandelilin, Ph.D., Board of Directors MBA FEB UGM Jakarta Campus.
“It was an excellent opportunity for us to learn first-hand about compliance. And it is a perfect idea to have a prominent speaker here, as an alumnus who graduated from our MBA Programme 23 years ago, to come back home and give the students first-hand lessons,” said Amin.
The speakers are expert practitioners with extensive experience in the banking industry who share their experiences and views regarding BRI’s efforts to support sustainability through sustainable products and services. Discussions cover essential issues such as sustainable project development, corporate social responsibility, and the positive impact resulting from sustainable financial practices. “Now, we’re not only concerned about the profit, but we also have to be more concerned about the next generation. Remember, we cannot achieve it without implementing sustainability finance.” Solichin added.
I Wayan Nuka Lantara, a leading academic in the field of finance and sustainability, was a careful and competent moderator in guiding the conversation. The highly interactive discussion allowed students to ask questions and engage in direct dialogue with the speakers. “Today, we can learn something important: business is not only about profit, but it must also have an impact on three things, namely the environment, society, and the internal company itself,” concluded Wayan at the end of the event.
The MBA FEB UGM Executive Series continues to provide the right platform for students to gain insight from CEOs and industry practitioners. With this activity, MBA FEB UGM can demonstrate its commitment to providing relevant education that prepares students to face future challenges in sustainable finance.
