The Master of Business Administration Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (MBA FEB UGM) held the AcadeMix Culture program on February 5, 2026. The event took place at Kampung Wisata Purbayan, Kotagede, Yogyakarta, and was attended by International MBA (IMBA) Cohort 87 students as part of their introduction to Indonesian culture.
In her remarks, Luluk Lusiantoro, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., Deputy Director of MBA FEB UGM Yogyakarta, encouraged students to fully engage in the activities and make the most of the experience as part of their learning journey. “Enjoy the rest of the day and have a great day,” she stated.
AcadeMix Culture is a regular program designed for new students to provide a holistic learning experience that goes beyond academics, while also introducing the richness of Indonesia’s cultural heritage and local wisdom. During the program, students participated in various cultural activities, including batik-making, traditional snack preparation, and playing gamelan, all of which reflect the local traditions of the community.
In addition, students visited several historical sites in Kampung Wisata Purbayan, such as Between Two Gates (Pendopo I and Pendopo II), the Great Mataram Mosque of Kotagede—home to the royal cemetery complex of the Mataram Kingdom (Pasarean Hastana Kitha Ageng)—as well as the Sendang Seliran Mataram bathing complex.
Laura Pustika Wibowo, a student of IMBA 87, shared her impressions of the program: “It’s been really fun so far—I’ve been enjoying it,” she said. She also expressed her hope that AcadeMix Culture would serve as a platform for students to get to know one another better as classmates. According to her, the program helps build chemistry, foster synergy, and strengthen a sense of togetherness, ultimately contributing to a more cohesive and collaborative class environment.
