MBA FEB UGM Explores the Responsible Use of AI Tools in Higher Education

Master of Business Administration Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (MBA FEB UGM), organized an international guest lecture for the Strategic Management course of the MBA/IMBA Class of 86. Titled “Responsible Use of AI Tools in Higher Education,” the session was delivered by Michal Lemanski, Senior Lecturer at WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business) and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, United Kingdom.

Held on May 20, 2026, at the Sukadji Ranuwihardjo Auditorium, the guest lecture explored the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in higher education, particularly within the context of teaching, learning, and academic activities in MBA programs. The event was attended by Prof. Amin Wibowo, Ph.D., Director of MBA FEB UGM and lecturer of the Strategic Management course for the MBA/IMBA Class of 86.

During his presentation, Michal Lemanski highlighted AI’s significant potential to enhance higher education through personalized learning, faster feedback, increased research productivity, and improved operational efficiency. At the same time, he emphasized several challenges associated with AI adoption, including academic misconduct and integrity issues, algorithmic bias and unfair decision-making, data privacy concerns, and the potential decline of students’ critical thinking skills.

The session featured an interactive discussion centered on business ethics and the responsible use of AI, supported by a range of real-world case studies. Students were encouraged to think critically when evaluating decisions, consider their implications for different stakeholders, and recognize trust and integrity as fundamental principles in the responsible adoption of emerging technologies.

Through initiatives such as this international guest lecture, MBA FEB UGM continues to demonstrate its commitment to delivering education that remains relevant to global developments while equipping students with the knowledge and awareness needed to use AI ethically, responsibly, and sustainably.
