Debate Competition: Indonesia to Food Self Sufficiency

Strategic Club, one of student clubs in MM FEB UGM Yogyakarta, held another strategic business debate competition recently. Bringing the case of Indonesia to Food Self Sufficiency, the debate competition held on September 5, 2018 was opened with a short speech from Artantya Krispradipta as the CEO of MMSA and another speech from Adnan Nugroho as the event chairman.

The participants of the debate came from Regular Batch 73 divided into 4 groups of 3 members representing their classes. REG 73A and REG 73D stated as the pros groups, while REG 73C and 73B stood on the cons  groups. In the first session, each group explained their arguments and suggestions. The pros groups believed that Indonesian government had chosen the right planning on food diversification which could decrease the burden of rice import. On the other side, the cons groups refused the idea of food diversification because it was considered ineffective to force Indonesian stopped consuming rice as the stapple food. In the second session, each groups commented on other groups arguments where they defended their own position and contradicted other groups ideas. Then, in the last session, all groups had further debate where they went deeper into each other ideas with the assistance of the moderator of the debate, Fuadin Abid.

The judges who consisted of Yogi Agnia Dwi Saputra, Back End Developer of Oktagon, and Ahmad Munandhir Amir, owner of FVFlower and Sate Kelopo, announced the champion went to REG 73A whose members were Mukhlas Rowi Arif, Mohammad Adhitya Riswandha, and Aniq Lu’inah Sindi. The first runner up was taken by REG 73D, while the second runner up was given to REG 73C. In addition, REG 73B and REG 73D were awarded as the Best Supporters.

1
