Executive series with PLN-Enjiniring was held with the theme “Green Energy for Sustainable Development Potential, Challenges, and Ways Forward”. Ir. Chairani Rachmatullah, Managing Director of PT PLN-Enjiniring, was present via zoom as a speaker, sharing her experience with MM FEB UGM students last Friday (11/25/2022).
The Chairman of the MBA FEB UGM Study Program, Prof. Amin Wibowo, delivered the opening speech. Amin expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the speaker’s presence and hoped that PT PLN-Enjiniring could be a place for internship destination for MBA UGM students in the future. The event continued with a virtual surrender of souvenirs from MBA FEB UGM to the speaker, then Rina Herani, M.Sc. as the moderator invited the speaker to share her experience.
In her presentation, Chairani explained that PLN is currently in the process of becoming a clean power company, which would expand electricity capacity to support Indonesia’s economic growth and electricity demand, and would also focus on expanding electricity capacity in Indonesia with renewable energy technology. She also explained PLN-Enjiniring efforts to reduce emissions, one of which was by biomass co-firing. Co-Firing is a substitution technique in PLTU’s firing, where some of the coal used as fuel is replaced partly with other ingredients, which in this context is biomass. “In implementing a sustainability policy, the company must also continue to ascertain the community’s condition and whether the country’s economy will get significant benefits so that it can achieve shared goals related to sustainability,” she concluded while closing the event with a question and answer sessions and photos together virtually.
