On Thursday (July 18), MBA Student Association (MBA SA) MBA UGM Jakarta, in collaboration with the Student Committee MM Universitas Indonesia (SC MM UI), held the MBA CATALYST SUMMIT 2024 with the theme “Thrive in The New Economy: Tech, Sustainability & Growth,” featuring speakers from various backgrounds. The event was held at the Auditorium on the 9th floor of UGM Jakarta Campus. This MBA CATALYST consisted of three sessions: the first session focused on “Economics Outlook & Managing Investment in Indonesia,” the second session covered “How AI is Transforming Business,” and the final session was themed “Build a Sustainable Startup Business.”
In one of the sessions, “How AI is Transforming Business,” which featured Dharma Simorangkir, President Director of Microsoft Indonesia, Dharma explained that today’s workers must be able to withstand AI disruptions. Therefore, workers need to upgrade their skills beyond problem-solving, IT skills, and critical thinking; they must also incorporate AI capabilities into their work. This is because 92% of leaders in Indonesia consider AI adoption crucial for maintaining a competitive edge. Dharma also mentioned that AI could create economic opportunities and enhance inclusion towards Indonesia’s Vision 2045. At the end of the session, Dharma advised, “AI is not about technology, AI is not about AI. It is about how we use AI to drive growth and solve business problems.”
