MBA FEB UGM Holds International Guest Lecture on Sustainable Supply Chain with Prof. Prem Chhetri

The Master of Business Administration Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (MBA FEB UGM) held an International Guest Lecture for the Operations and Technology Management course for MBA 87A, 87C, and IMBA 87 classes. The session carried the theme Sustainable Supply Chain and featured Prof. Prem Chhetri, Ph.D., from RMIT University, Australia. The event took place on April 1, 2026, at the Faculty Meeting Room (FMR), MBA FEB UGM Yogyakarta Campus.

The session was moderated by Rocky Adiguna, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., lecturer of the Operations and Technology Management course, and was also attended by Nofie Iman Vidya Kemal, M.Sc., Ph.D., who co-teaches the course and supported the academic session.

In his presentation, Prof. Prem Chhetri highlighted the urgency of shifting from the concept of sustainability toward a more progressive approach—regeneration—in supply chain management. He explained that sustainability, which traditionally focuses on reducing negative impacts, is no longer sufficient to address global environmental challenges, as it tends to slow down damage rather than restore systems. Therefore, a regenerative approach emerges as a new paradigm that aims not only to sustain but also to restore and enhance environmental and social systems.

In addition, students were engaged in analyzing various global case studies, including Green Shipping Corridor vs. Cost Pressures, Lithium Supply Chain & Ethical Sourcing, E-commerce Last-Mile Emissions Crisis, Climate Shock & Agri-Supply Chains, Digital Twin for Supply Chain Decarbonisation, and Geopolitical Shock & Supply Chain Reconfiguration. These discussions helped students understand the complexity of real-world industrial challenges while strengthening their analytical skills in designing adaptive, innovative, and long-term strategies.

The session concluded with an interactive discussion, where students actively participated by engaging in critical dialogue and raising questions related to the implementation of sustainable supply chains across various industries.
