MBA FEB UGM Holds Guest Lecture on “Environmental Impact Assessment” with No Gravity, Slovakia

The Master of Business Administration program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (MBA FEB UGM) held a guest lecture entitled “Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)” on November 6-7, 2025. This event was attended by students from the Sustainability Concentration Class of 85 and featured two guest lecturers from No Gravity, Slovakia, namely Gabriel Adamek and Jozef Wallner.

This guest lecture event is part of a collaboration with the MASUDEM Project (Master Study Programme in Sustainable Development and Management), an initiative in partnership with the European Union to strengthen sustainable education at various partner universities.

Over the two days, the two guest lecturers presented key concepts in Environmental Management, including environmental performance monitoring and improvement, corporate environmental responsibility, and the integration of environmental aspects into management systems. In addition, they discussed the importance of environmental management in protecting natural resources, supporting economic and social progress, reducing the impact of climate change, and improving human welfare.

In the discussion session, students were invited to understand how the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process plays a role in supporting sustainable development in Indonesia. The topics covered included environmental issues such as deforestation, pollution from mining and palm oil processing activities, damage to marine ecosystems, and waste management in urban areas.

As part of interactive learning, students were asked to design EIA stages for two real cases in Indonesia, namely Highway Construction and New Textile Industry. Through this activity, students were expected to apply their theoretical understanding in a practical context and raise awareness of the importance of environmental impact assessment in business decision-making processes.

This activity reflects the commitment of the MBA FEB UGM to integrate sustainability principles into management education, while strengthening international collaboration networks through the MASUDEM project.
