Understanding Global Business Dynamics: FEB UGM MBA Presents Dr. Melanie Hassett in an Inspirational Guest Lecture

The Master of Business Administration program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Gadjah Mada University (MBA FEB UGM) once again presented inspiring learning through a guest lecture themed “The Dynamic Landscape of International Business: Trends, Drivers, and Sustainability” with Dr. Melanie Hassett from the University of Sheffield, UK. The event took place on November 13, 2025, at the Faculty Meeting Room (FMR) MBA FEB UGM and was attended by MBA FEB UGM students and the general public.

The session was moderated by Zuni Barokah, S.E., M.Comm., Ph.D., CA. “I think this is a very relevant topic that we need to address, especially as we consider how global trends from technology and trade to climate change influence our business decisions and the pursuit of sustainability,” said Zuni.

Through her presentation, Dr. Melanie invited students to understand the rapidly evolving dynamics of international business. She explained various global trends, key drivers of change, and modern challenges faced by companies in the face of global competition. One of the main points emphasized was the urgency of integrating sustainability principles into business strategies to ensure organizational resilience and sustainability.

This session was not just one-way. Dr. Melanie also invited students to discuss various international case studies. This guest lecture was not just a presentation of material, but also a valuable opportunity for FEB UGM MBA students to expand their international networks and insights directly from global experts.
