As part of its commitment to developing adaptive, resilient, and ethical future leaders, the Master of Business Administration Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (MBA FEB UGM), organized a Leadership Camp for the MBA-IMBA Class of 87. The two-day program was held on Wednesday–Thursday, April 15–16, 2026, at Bina Karya Guesthouse, Srimulyo, Piyungan, Bantul, Yogyakarta.
The Leadership Camp is one of the mandatory activities within the Leadership Enhancement and Acceleration Program (LEAP) for all MBA-IMBA students. The program began on Wednesday, April 15, with student registration at the MBA FEB UGM campus, followed by an opening briefing from the MBA FEB UGM Board of Directors. During his remarks, Prof. Amin Wibowo, Ph.D., Board of Director of MBA FEB UGM, emphasized that real-world experiences offer valuable learning opportunities beyond the classroom.
“There is certainly a different experience when you are out in the field compared to being in the classroom, and that is where leadership begins to take shape,” he said.
The session continued with a briefing by Mohammad Genta Mahardhika from the Eureka Team, which facilitated the camp activities.
Following the orientation, participants traveled to the venue in Bantul. Upon arrival, they were welcomed with refreshments before gathering at the main pavilion. The program officially began with Introduction Games, designed to help participants get to know one another and foster stronger connections among the MBA-IMBA 87 cohort.
The next activity, Environment Awareness Games, invited students to visit the Taman TOGA (Family Medicinal Plants Garden), where they learned about environmental conservation and the importance of sustainable practices. In the evening, participants took part in “MBA UGM Hits,” a creative talent showcase that provided a platform for artistic expression while strengthening team spirit and camaraderie.
On the second day, Thursday, April 16, the program began with a communal breakfast, followed by Leadership Games designed to develop participants’ problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills through a series of dynamic challenges. The morning also featured the announcement of the King and Queen award recipients.
Students then attended a briefing by Bayu Sutikno, S.E., M.S.M., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs of FEB UGM, who encouraged participants to embrace authentic leadership.
“We hope that during your time at this faculty, you will become genuine and authentic leaders. Be true to yourselves. There are two important things to understand: first, a leader cannot exist without understanding the environment in which they lead. Second, after understanding that environment, a leader must be able to contribute meaningfully to it.”
The program continued with a Leadership Development session delivered by Prof. Amin Wibowo, Ph.D., providing participants with deeper insights into effective leadership and personal growth.
The Leadership Camp concluded with the announcement of the Best Group award, followed by a group photo session before participants returned to the MBA FEB UGM campus.
Through the MBA-IMBA 87 Leadership Camp, MBA FEB UGM once again reaffirmed its commitment to developing future leaders who not only excel academically but also possess strong character, collaborative skills, and the ability to navigate increasingly complex global challenges. The program served as an important milestone in strengthening solidarity, broadening perspectives, and cultivating sustainable leadership values among participants.
